Description

Standard loose wire type coil for Piaggo/ Gilera engines at an absolute bargain price !

If your CDI connects to the loom with a block connector (most peds do) you will need to cut this off and fit spade connectors to the individual wires. If you don't want to do this you can buy this one instead

This CDI is completely derestricted (the standard CDI is normally restricted to 10,000rpms)

RMS Piaggio equivalent: 638678, 2921945, 292194

Fitment
  • Aprilia SR Motard 50cc
  • Piaggio/Gilera 50cc 2-stroke scooters (air cooled)
  • Piaggio/Gilera 50cc 2-stroke scooters (liquid cooled)
  • Vespa 50cc 2-stroke
Question
  • Q. Would this fit on aprilia sr50r 2012, I would fit spade connectors, as there's block one. It does not mention sr50 on the list that's why I'm asking, the other one cost twice as much.
  • A.

yes it is fine for later Aprilia SR50 mopeds so long as you have the carb version of the bike - it isn't suitable for the fuel injection versions

  • Q. hi iv got a derbi atlantis 50cc with stock cdi and coil will this make it faster
  • A.

These CDI units don't have a rev limiter whereas many of the genuine original Piaggio CDI's are limited to 10,000rpm. This means that if you have a performance cylinder kit/ exhaust on the bike which wants to rev higher then 10,000 RPM then this CDI unit would allow you to do this with significant benefits to performance and top speed. If on the other hand you have a completely standard moped then it is unlikely to be able to rev over 10,000rpm so you wouldn't see any benefit until you tuned it.

  • Q. My old 1 does not have that wire with the loop on the end is that the earth wire. What do I do with that?
  • A.

Yes it will be fine, just connect it to earth under one of the bolts which secures the CDI to the frame.
