Fitment
  • This item is not specific to any bike, check suitability first.
Question
  • Q. Presumably this works on coil LT pulse and what is it's maximum rpm setting
  • A.

It works by sensing and shorting the pulse from the pickup coil (not the LT coil circuit)
Can be adjusted to up to infinite rpm.

  • Q. I Understand that this is not a speed restrictor, but could it be used in situations like getting stopped by police or something like that?
  • A.

unless you have a geared bike a rev limiter can only really work as a 30mph speed limiter if you have a standard exhaust fitted and no gear kit

  • Q. Can you use this to make a bike only do 30mph? Can you limit the revs so that their isn't enough power to go over 30mph.
  • A.

You can only use a rev limiter as a 30mph speed limiter if you still have a standard exhaust and standard gearing.
On a scooter the variator keeps changing the gearing to keep the engine running at a fixed rpm as the road speed increases. With a standard exhaust (low revs) it can only keep the revs constant until around 25mph and then the revs start increasing so a rev limiter can limit the road speed to anything you set over 25mph. If you have a sports pipe or tuned engine the engine rpm will be constant up until around 35-40 or higher so you can't limit the road speed below this by limiting the rpm.

  • Q. hi, i was wondering if i could fit this to my piaggio zip 50cc 2t. it has been de restricted with the washer taken out and the run off pipe on the exhaust cut and welded. it is a new zip as well if you need to know that.
  • A.

yes it will work fine but remember that it is a revs restrictor rather than a top speed restrictor
